Summary:
Toronto's the Supers offer a debut album that radiates classic
power-pop energy -- from Sixties retro to Eighties Squeeze --
and do it in a contemporary way that may connect with listeners
beyond the genre's hardcore legion of devotees. While the bass
and lead guitar chemistry of Maury LaFoy and Graham Powell is
a winning combo, these shiny-happy pupils of power-pop must share
the credit with producer Wojewoda, who gives this CD the kind
of effervescent audio sheen that characterizes his work with mainstream
monsters BareNaked Ladies.
